Arrowhead ABOUT THE ORDER OF THE ARROW AND THE AKELA WAHINAPAY LODGE 232

The Order of the Arrow is scouting’s national honor society and is a service organization. Our purpose is fourfold:

  • To recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives
  • To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit
  • To promote Scout camping
  • To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others

Included in our Lodges Strategic Plan for the 2006-2007 operating year:

  • Commit to the enhancement and promotion of the outdoor camping program in the Caddo Area Council.
  • Broaden our service to Scouting units in our council and the Community.
  • Increase quality of lodge program at events.

Our Lodge support two camping facilities, Camp Pioneer and Camp Preston Hunt.

OrAnge was created to fulfill our obligation as a service organization and to provide service to our local communities and to our council where scouting thrives. It operates under the leadership of the Lodges Service Committee which includes one adult and one youth advisor and youth chairman approved by the chairman and further by the lodges Key 3.
